Verde Technologies, an I-Corps alumni startup from the University of Vermont, was recently selected by the DOE Solar Energy Technologies Office (SETO), to partner on an $11.25 million cost-shared award for developing tandem solar modules at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Their innovative solar cell technology uses a mineral called perovskites, which creates lighter, higher-efficiency solar panels. After participating in the regional and national I- Corps courses in 2021, founders Dr. Randall Headrick and Dr. Chad Miller have continued to scale Verde Technologies in Burlington, Vermont, where they have raised an additional $5.9 million in grant funding and local investments. With this influx in funding and a partnership with the DOE and MIT, Verde Technologies is uniquely positioned to transform the world of solar energy.
